Poem on new beginnings

As the day draws to a close,
and the birds return to their nest,
I close my eyes and relax,
Trying to get my mind to rest.
The moments after dusk,
When the sun has gone home,
That moment is my own,
And my thoughts begin to roam.
I feel all alone at times,
Amidst these throes of people.
And my confidence ebbs away,
My voice so lost and feeble.
But then I pick myself again,
My life, I just cannot stop.
I have to go on, be sane,
feigning a hip and a hop.
The sun and moon together,
Teach me a lesson so dear.
No matter what the weather,
Show up each day, without fear.
As dusk draws once more,
I brace myself again.
My zest and zeal at the fore,
The joy in life, I will regain.
